While identifying state lands of the province and conserving them; disposing the identified lands for more purposeful task and ensuring post monitoring activities as well as development activities of disposed lands are the functions carried out by the provincial land department.

According to the thirteenth amendment to the constitution and as per the powers vested on provincial councils, the Western Provincial Land Department was established to manage and administer land within the province.

The management and administrative affairs of all the state land located within the Western Province are carried out by this department, in compliance with The Land Development Ordinance, Crown Land Ordinance, Land Grants Special Provisions Act and other related Acts, Rules & Regulations.

To contribute majorly for sustainable land management by contribution of efficient and transparent disposal of state lands, improving the living standards of people residing in state lands, land development and conservation, increasing state land tax revenue significantly, providing legal and advisory services in land management to pave way for a future developed country.

Message from the
Provincial Land Commissioner

The Western Province Land Commissioner's Department is working efficiently and qualitatively within the constitutionally mandated legal framework regarding the management and disposal of state lands in the province, and it is working in collaboration with the Divisional Secretaries of the province to collect tax revenue from state lands, which is a provincial council revenue, and it is also working to achieve the vision and mission of the department to realize the concept of; "A Rich Country, a Beautiful Life".

We are also committed to create satisfied people by seeking more practical and creative solutions to the land issues of the people of the province in accordance with the existing legal framework and the principles of natural justice, as well as through land development and the provision of infrastructure facilities for the benefit of the settlers.
